1. Acceptance of Terms

These terms apply to your use of Betty at bettygenius.co.za (the "Service"), operated by Vertex Catalyst Group ("we", "us"). By creating an account or using the Service you accept these terms and our Privacy Policy.

2. Nature of the Service - an AI Assistant

Betty is an AI assistant. Its answers are generated automatically and can be incomplete or wrong. Check important facts, figures, names and dates before you rely on them or send them to others. Betty gives general information only: it does not give legal, tax, financial, medical or other professional advice, and does not replace a qualified professional.

3. Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old and able to enter into a binding agreement to use the Service.

4. Your Account

Keep your login details safe and do not share your account. You are responsible for what happens under your account. Tell us through the contact form if you think someone else has used it. We may suspend or close accounts that break these terms.

5. Plans, Subscriptions and Payments

Paid plans are billed monthly in South African rand through our payment provider, Stripe, and renew automatically until you cancel. Plans include a monthly number of Betty Units (one unit per piece of AI work, such as a chat answer, a document draft, an image or a data analysis); the count starts again on the 1st of each month. A free trial may be offered on your first subscription; if you cancel before it ends, you are not charged. You can change or cancel your plan at any time in Plans & Billing; after cancelling, your plan stays active until the end of the period you paid for. Prices may change; we will tell you in advance, and the new price applies from your next billing period. If you believe you were charged in error, contact us and we will look into it.

6. Acceptable Use

Do not use Betty to break the law, to harm, deceive or harass others, to create spam or malware, to infringe anyone's rights, or to try to break, overload or get around the security or limits of the Service. Do not upload content you do not have the right to use.

7. Your Content

You keep the rights to what you write and upload, and to the documents you create with Betty. You allow us to process that content only to provide the Service to you, as described in our Privacy Policy. What you delete is removed from the Service as explained in the Privacy Policy.

8. Intellectual Property

The Service itself, including its software, design, name and logo, belongs to Vertex Catalyst Group and may not be copied or reused without permission.

9. Limitation of Liability

The Service is provided "as is". To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, or for decisions made on the basis of AI-generated content. Our total liability to you is limited to the fees you paid us in the three months before the claim. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under consumer-protection law that cannot be excluded.

10. Changes to These Terms

We may update these terms. The date at the top shows the latest version; we will tell you about important changes in advance. If you keep using the Service after a change, the new terms apply.

11. Governing Law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of South Africa.
